Rockport, Massachusetts

Rockport, Massachusetts was first inhabited by the Agawam Indians, and was later settled as a part of Gloucester in 1623 but then was largely uninhabited for over one hundred years. Rockport, MA eventually became its own town in the year 1840 and is currently in Essex County. According to the 2010 census, the population of Rockport was 6,952. Rockport, MA is located just at the tip of the Cape Ann peninsula and is surrounded on all sides by the Atlantic ocean.

Located approximately 40 miles north east of Boston, MA, Rockport can be traveled to by car by way of either I-95 or I-93 to MA Rt. 128 north. In between Rockport and Gloucester are two roads; MA Rt. 127 and MA Rt. 127A.

Rockport, MA is filled with historical landmarks. Some points of interest include: Old Garden Beach, Halibut Point State Park, Babson Museum, Sandy Bay Historical Society and Museum, and the Hammond Castle Museum. Rockport has a variety of recreation choices for people of all ages. One popular event is the Harvest Festival, which happens every year in October.
